Berea Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how VinTEK Solutions ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Berea mobile application ("Berea" or the "App").

Berea is a Bible study companion. It builds study guides from a passage or a topic, checks every verse it quotes against the scripture text on your device, and includes an offline Bible reader with cross-references, topics, notes, and bookmarks.

The short version: Berea has no accounts, and we do not collect personal information. Everything you create stays on your device. The rest of this policy explains the few times the App talks to the internet, and what it sends.

1. Information We Collect

Personal information

None. Berea has no sign-in, no user accounts, and no user profiles. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or date of birth, and there is nothing in the App that would let us identify you.

Analytics and tracking

None. Berea contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party tracking of any kind. We do not know how many times you open the App, what you read, or which features you use.

Device permissions

Berea requests exactly one permission: internet access. It does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, photos, or device storage.

2. What Stays On Your Device

All of the following is stored only in Berea's local database on your device. It is never uploaded, backed up to us, or shared:

• Study guides you generate and save
• Your progress through a study, including which lesson you're on
• Notes you write on a verse or a lesson
• Bookmarked verses
• Your preferred Bible translation

Because this data never leaves your device, we cannot see it, retrieve it, or restore it for you.

3. Generating a Study

Creating a study guide is the one feature that requires an internet connection. When you tap Generate, Berea sends a request describing what you asked to study — for example the book and chapter range, or the topic name — along with the audience setting and number of lessons you selected.

That request is handled by a server function we operate, which passes it to Google's Gemini API to draft the study, and returns the result to your device. The request contains no account identifier, no device identifier, and no personal information, because the App has none to send. Your notes and bookmarks are never included.

Scripture itself is not supplied by the AI model. Berea looks the verses up in the Bible text on your device, includes them in the request, and then re-checks every verse the model quotes against that same local text before showing it to you.

4. Bible Translations

The King James Version is bundled inside the App and works entirely offline. The other translations — ASV, WEB, BSB, and NET — are downloaded a chapter at a time, as you read them, from the Free Use Bible API (bible.helloao.org). Once a chapter is downloaded it is cached on your device and works offline afterward.

These requests identify the chapter being fetched. They carry no account or personal information.

5. Third-Party Services

• Supabase — hosts the server function that handles study generation. It processes the study request described in Section 3 and does not receive personal information.
• Google (Gemini API) — drafts study guide content from the request. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Free Use Bible API — serves the non-KJV translation text described in Section 4.
• vinteksolutions.com — Berea loads the app icons shown in the "More from VinTEK" section of the Profile screen from our own website.

Berea does not use Firebase, Google Analytics, advertising networks, or any social media SDK.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Since your studies, notes, and bookmarks live only on your device, deleting the App deletes all of it. There is no account to close and no server-side copy for us to erase, because we never received one.

Study generation requests are transient — they are processed to produce your study guide and are not stored by us as a user record.

7. Children's Privacy

Berea is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children. Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, it does not collect any from children either.

8. Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none. There is no account, no profile, and no stored record tied to you, so there is nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on request. Your data is already entirely in your hands: it is on your device, and uninstalling removes it.

9. What We Don't Do

• We do not sell or share your information — we do not have any.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not show ads.
• We do not build a profile of your reading, your notes, or your beliefs.
• We do not require an account to use any feature of the App.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Berea after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
