SongBook Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how VinTEK Solutions ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the SongBook mobile application ("SongBook" or the "App").

SongBook is a songwriting and practice companion for musicians. It stores the songs, lyrics, chords, setlists, and audio recordings you create.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in to SongBook, we collect:

• Email address (used as your login identifier)
• Display name (optional)
• Authentication credentials managed by Firebase Authentication

Song & Practice Data

SongBook stores the creative content you make:

• Songs: titles, lyrics, chord charts, structure tags, tempo, key, notes
• Setlists and song ordering
• Tags, favorites, and custom categories
• Strum patterns and chord progressions you record or edit
• Audio recordings (see below)

Lyrics-only backup is available to all users. Full backup (including chords, recordings, and setlists) requires a paid tier.

Audio Recordings & Microphone Access

SongBook uses your microphone for several features:

• Tuner — Real-time pitch detection. Audio is processed entirely on-device; no audio data is sent to any server or stored.
• Chord listener — Real-time chord detection. Audio is processed on-device; no audio data is sent to any server or stored.
• Strum pattern recorder — Detects rhythm/onset from your playing. Audio samples are processed on-device in memory; only the resulting strum pattern (timestamps + up/down direction) is saved, not the raw audio.
• Song recording — When you explicitly tap record, the audio is captured and saved. See "Audio Recordings You Save" below.

You can deny microphone access; the features that need it will simply be unavailable. Other features (editing lyrics, managing setlists, etc.) continue to work normally.

Audio Recordings You Save

Audio recordings you explicitly capture and save are uploaded to Firebase Storage and are accessible only to your account. Only you can play, share, or delete them. We do not analyze, transcribe, or use your recordings for any purpose other than storing and returning them to you on request.

Location Data

SongBook does not access your device location.

Camera / Photos

SongBook does not access your camera or photo library.

Usage & Crash Data

We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (app opens, feature usage, crash reports) via Firebase to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Payment Information

Subscriptions are processed by Google Play Billing and managed by RevenueCat. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card numbers or payment account details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information to:

• Provide SongBook's songwriting, practice, and performance features
• Sync your songs, chords, setlists, and recordings across devices (paid tier)
• Back up your creative content so it survives device changes
• Process real-time audio on-device for the tuner, chord listener, and strum recorder
• Track your subscription status and gate premium features accordingly
• Improve and debug the app via crash reports and anonymized usage data
• Respond to support requests you send us

3. Audio Processing Details

Because audio is sensitive, we want to be explicit about what happens to it:

• Tuner, chord listener, strum detection: 100% on-device. The audio samples never leave your phone. Only the analysis result (pitch, chord name, strum direction) is stored if you choose to save it.
• Explicit recordings: When you tap the record button, the resulting audio file is uploaded to Firebase Storage under your account. It is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Only you can access it.
• No transcription, no AI analysis of your recordings by us or by third parties.
• No training data: We do not use your lyrics, melodies, chord progressions, or recordings to train AI models or for any other secondary purpose.

4. Your Creative Content

You own the songs, lyrics, melodies, and recordings you create in SongBook. Storing them with us does not grant us any rights to use, modify, distribute, or publish your creative work. Our only license is the technical right to store and return your content to you on request.

5. Third-Party Services

SongBook integrates with the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) — Account sign-in, including Google Sign-In and anonymous auth. Privacy
• Cloud Firestore (Google) — Encrypted cloud storage for songs, lyrics, chords, and setlists.
• Firebase Storage (Google) — Encrypted audio recording storage.
• Firebase Analytics (Google) — Anonymized usage analytics to improve the app. No advertising ID is collected. Privacy
• Google Identity Services — Powers "Continue with Google" sign-in. We receive your name and email only. Privacy
• RevenueCat — Subscription management. Privacy
• Google Play Billing — In-app purchases. Privacy

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud) servers using encrypted connections (TLS/SSL). We use:

• Firestore security rules scoped to your user ID — no other user can read or write your data
• Firebase Storage rules that restrict audio file access to the owning account
• Authentication-based access controls on all requests
• Encrypted data transmission between your device and our servers

While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time:

• Delete individual songs, setlists, and recordings within the app
• Delete your entire account and all associated data (including audio files) by contacting us at vintek615@gmail.com

Upon account deletion, all your SongBook data — including uploaded audio recordings — is permanently removed from our cloud services within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

SongBook is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Export your songs, lyrics, and recordings in a portable format
• Withdraw consent for data processing

10. What We Don't Do

• We do not sell your personal information to third parties — ever
• We do not serve advertisements in SongBook
• We do not track you across other apps or websites
• We do not share your data with data brokers
• We do not analyze your lyrics or audio for any purpose other than storing them for you
• We do not use your creative content to train AI models
• We do not claim any ownership or license rights over your songs or recordings

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be announced in the app. Continued use of SongBook after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
